Giants

I don't profess to be much of a football fan, but that was some game. In a strange way the last drive had the air of inevitability....Now for the ticker tape parade and it won't be in the parking lot at Giants stadium either.

Y'know, I don't know if that Giants winning drive had the air of inevitability around it (presuming that's what you meant). When the Pats scored to go up 14-10 with 2 1/2 minutes left I really did think that was it. I think all of those AFC teams getting blasted in the Superbowl (primarily in the 1980s) have jaded me to some extent. I was just expecting Manning (the inexperienced QB) to crack under the pressure like so many others like him (Elway, Marino, etc...) did.

That he and the Giants didn't is truly amazing. I was thinking it was not as big an upset as Jets/Colts in Superbowl 3, but of course the two leagues didn't play an interlocking schedule at that time. Getting a sense of just how good the Namath-led Jets were was very difficult. With the Giants/Patriots game, I truly didn't think that the Giants would be able to pull it out. But man, that they did (and the way they did) was pretty bloody amazing. And great fun to watch.
